All those who enjoy dikhwaere can look forward to the Dikopelo Thootho Cultural Festival to be held at Segale Primary School on the Ist October from the afternoon until late in the evening. The event will feature several choirs from surrounding areas and since there is no theme for song, they will battle it out in free style mode to the delight of revellers.

A total of 56 songs will be sung to the audience at the riveting gig. The featured events include True Fighters, SK Dipitse, SK Seshoboloko and DK Dichaoka. According to one of the organisers, Jautse Nkwe, the aim is to use this traditional form of song and dance to fight crime and create a leisure day for community members to relax and unwind.

A press release states that the one day event will also promote and create market exposure for local traditional choirs, “Even though we are starting this event with no sponsors, there is a little money to be win by the winning performers.” There will also be a championship trophy. All this is motivation to the choirs to invest in and improve their craft so that they attract sponsors as well as create employment and help maximise the quality of this event by ensuring that it grows in leaps and bounds. Some of the eye-catching aspects of the event will be the best entertainer awards as well as the phala/fshwerre open competitions that will see winners walk away with medals.
