The Botswana Integrated Sports Association (BISA) South Central Zone will this weekend host sports awards ceremony in Gaborone. Announcing the award ceremony to member schools and the media yesterday, the South Zone organiser Joy Kenosi said the awards are meant to appreciate and recognise talent in their zone. Kenosi explained that they saw it necessary to award those athletes who performed beyond expectations this year, saying they want to improve their performances for the better.

He said they also want to encourage the spirit of competition amongst athletes and motivate them to always strive for the best. This he said will produce a competitive environment which makes it easy to identify exceptional talent at an early age. Through recognising athletes, Kenosi said they are able to instil discipline in children, boost their confidence and self- esteem. He mentioned that they will be awarding the best male and female athletes per code, best school in individual sport and group code for both junior and senior schools.

In attendance they anticipate the presence of South Central Regional Director, the BISA administrative body, Botswana National Olympic Committee (BNOC) and Botswana National Sports Commission (BNSC). Kenosi decried that they are running without a sponsor and are heavily financially constrained. He said because they are hosting the awards for the very first time, there will be no monetary prizes but trophies. Nevertheless he mentioned that they are in partnership with JB sports, Vision Sports and White City products and services.
