Township Rollers attacking midfielder Lemponye Tshireletso will have to downgrade his role from scoring goals to settling in the midfield and protect the Popa defence under the tutelage of new Serbian coach Nikola Kavazovic. The Serbian has called Tshireletso to fill the gaping pit left by the Malawian international Lawrence Majawa who departed to bitter rivals Mochudi Centre Chiefs.

Tshireletso was the picket to the Popa defense something which spectators bitterly criticised, most arguing that deploying Tshireletso to defensive role will limit the club’s goal scoring opportunities. Coach Nikola Kavazovic has made it known that Tshiereletso will play defensively for the rest of the season so those who expected to see the player pounce some goals this season will have to prepare for the big drought.

“Tshireletso is gifted, he can play anywhere on the pitch he is versatile give him gloves and he will be a goalkeeper but in our modern style of play he is most useful playing as defensive role, we want him to keep the ball more often,” said Kavazovic. For his part Tshireletso said he will fine-tune to his new role under the new coach. “

I think I am a professional and I have to take up any role given to me by the coach, I have been playing the position since he took over and I know he expects me to come from deep and shoot from range,” he stressed. Nevertheless Tshireletso is adamant that he will not play as the rear guard for the entire season “I believe it will be up to the coach to play me and ensure that I fit in his game plan looking at which team we are playing but I don’t think it’s a permanent role”.
