The race for power at Botswana Integrated Sports Association (BISA) ahead of their Annual General Elections scheduled for November has taken an ugly twist. Vice President Montlenyane Radihephi is challenging President Joshua Gaotlhobogwe for the presidency. Radihephi was unleashed during the north zone meeting held in Maun a few days ago while Gaotlhobogwe was nominated in north central in Palapye.

President of the Botswana Football Association (BFA) Mclean Letshwiti has lashed at government for assuming that the country can do without the global football controlling body, FIFA. “Projects like the one we are witnessing today signify the importance of being a FIFA member. I have always heard people say what is the use of being a FIFA member? We can do this thing, stop being a FIFA member because there are no benefits,” said BFA president. FIFA financed BFA to construct a pitch with natural turf some years ago.

TAFIC redeems itself

BTC Premiership returnee Tafic Sporting Club faced their earliest trial of the season when they lost by a thin margin of 2-1 to defending Champions Township Rollers this past weekend. However the Francistown based club managed to reedem itself last night when they defeated Tlokweng based Security Systems 2-1. During the weekend encounter against Rollers, Tafic was expected to cause an upset and fit the shoes of last season’s rookies Black Forest and Security Systems but that was never the case.

This past weekend Botswana Amateur Fencing Association (BAFS) affiliates failed to show up for a tournament held in Gaborone. Nevertheless, the tournament went on with a hand full of athletes at the Botswana Karate Association (BOKA) dojo.
