Police in Maun have arrested a 26-year-old man linked to the recent murder of a German couple.

Details were scanty at the time of going to press but police sources said the suspect is likely to be dragged before the courts this week. Meanwhile, a 44-year old man who was arrested for murder in Selibe Phikwe, was found hanging inside a holding cell at Broadhurst Police Station on Saturday morning.

He is currently fighting for his life at Princess Marina referral Hospital in Gaborone. Broadhurst Police Station Commander Supt. Bonosi Molapisi confirmed the incident. “We are currently investigating the case. The man used a T-shirt to hang himself. He is currently in the hospital,” said Molapisi, adding that he was found by police officers when they reported for duty on Saturday this past weekend.

Meanwhile, Molapisi said they are handling three cases in which people received fake P200 notes that are currently in circulation.“I would like to inform members of the public to be vigilant when receiving P200 notes. We have arrested one person in this case. The suspect was arrested at Sefalana trying to buy goods. The fortunate part is that he knows the person who gave him the note,” said Molapisi.
