A 30-year old man, Otlaadisa Bodirile of Xhumo who has allegedly been terrorising women and girls in Letlhakane by raping them was arrested last week Friday by two officers from the Criminal Investigation Department.

The two officers arrived with the suspect at the police station whilst this reporter was having a meeting with Letlhakane Police Station Commander Superintendent Michael Maphephu. Filthy looking and cutting a forlorn picture, the accused person, Bodirile asked the reporter to show him the pictures taken of him and said he wanted only beautiful ones to be used in the paper.

“Am I handsome? Let me see. Choose beautiful ones,” he said with an emotionless face. Bodirile is accused of threatening to stab his victims with a knife before raping them, according to Supt. Maphephu. He was arrested in Letlhakane after a tip-off from one of his victims who reported him last week.  He told the police that he had raped three women, which his victims confirmed.

“We are yet to bring in more victims to see whether he is just behind the three cases or whether there are more,” said the Station Commander. Bodirile appeared before Letlhakane Magistrate court this Monday. Letlhakane Police recorded 34 rape cases between January and May this year.
