The case in which Gaofenngwe Selaolo who was in 2015 arrested and charged with the abduction and murder of her boyfriend’s son will soon be heard at the High Court. The Broadhurst Magistrate recently postponed the commitment to the High Court.

The prosecution wants Selaolo to answer for a charge of murder and child abduction but defence counsel Ludo Tema pleaded with the court to adjourn the matter as they still had to gather critical details. “We have not yet been furnished with an assessment report from S’brana Psychiatric. We believe that the report could be of assistance to us. We therefore plead with you to allow us time to gather the necessary and required details and documents, and return to court,” he said. Presiding Magistrate Tshepo Thedi conceded that the counsel should be given time to gather all the necessary information.

“The prosecution should serve defence counsel with an assessment report from Sbrana Psychiatric Hospital. I therefore adjourn the committal to 28 November,” she said. The accused Selaolo is alleged to have murdered 11-year-old boy, Clifford Mochocho in March 2015. Mochocho was a standard six learner at Bosele Primary School in Gaborone. Selaolo, who was dating the father to the boy, Louis Masimba, is said to have abducted the child at school.

At the time of the incident, the former couple was said to have broken up but strangely, continued to live together. Selaolo would later join police on the search for the child after he was reported missing with the police. Police investigations later linked Selaolo to the murder. Selaolo then took the police to a shallow grave that she had buried the boy’s decomposed body at Mankgodi Hills. Selaolo is currently out on bail.
